Have you ever wanted to spend time with your family but didn’t know what to do? Next time, think about volunteering. Here are some great, fun ideas that you and your loved ones could do together.
1. Make tie fleece blankets for kids. Drop them off at either your local homeless shelter, food or clothing bank. They are easy to make. All you need are 2 two and half yard pieces of fleece fabric which can be purchased at any craft store and scissors. Look at this video for a tutorial on how to make them.

2. Pick up litter in a public place. Parks, streets, and schools are all good places to clean up.
3. Make holiday cards/valentines/letters for senior citizens, veterans, or our overseas troops. These cards will definitely brighten their day and they are fun for everyone making them.
4. Plan a BINGO party or other games for a local senior center/home.
5. Make first aid kits, personal care bags, or sack lunches for a shelter. I have a friend who is making care bags with purses for homeless women in her area and is putting essentials in them
6. Make activity bags for hospitalized children. This is a perfect way to say that you’re rooting for them and making their time in the hospital less-stressful.

7. Go through your own toy collection and closet to donate gently used items to kids in need.
8. Join a local community garden and take your kids to help you with the garden work/harvesting.
9. Pick up extra school supplies when you do your kids’ back-to-school shopping and donate them.
As always, call the benefiting organization before you start to get specifications and find out what needs you can fill.
And remember, have fun doing whatever you decide to do!
